Pacific Grand Prix
Final Qualifying, 21 October 1995

Despite improving their qualifying times by over 2 seconds and 1.3 seconds respectively. Andrea Montermini and Bertrand Gachot will start tomorrow's Pacific GP from the 12th row of the grid, both drivers suffered from running a restricted number of laps in both practice and qualifying sessions.

Bertrand continued to reacclimatize himself to driving a Formula One car, and reported that the oversteer which affected the car yesterday had been largely cured.

Andrea also found his car to be handling much better today, although he was frustrated not to break into the 1.19s bracket in final qualifying. Like Bertrand, he found that new tyres were good for only one flying lap, and so his hopes of improving on 23rd place on he grid were ended.

ANDREA MONTERMINI - 23rd - 1.20.093

"The car is much better today, and I was pretty sure that I would be able to get into the 1m19s,but unfortunately the lap time was just outside. We have not completed many laps so obviously it is difficult to find the right set up and to develop the car to suit the conditions as well as we normally do. Finishing the race is my target, so I'm hoping for a good run tomorrow."

BERTRAND GACHOT - 24th - 1.21.405

"I feel a little better today about the car, and I pushed quite hard as a result, but it clear that we do not have the right set-up because of the limit on the number of laps that we have done. I am getting back into the groove as far as driving again, and I am looking forward to racing in F1 again for the first time in three months. The car has quite good reliability and our race performances are normally much better than in qualifying, so hopefully we can have a good result here."
